Calle de Felipe IV

A historical street of great architectural elegance.

Calle de Felipe IV is located opposite the Monument to Queen Maria Cristina de Borbón and the Casón del Buen Retiro (manor house). It is a tree-lined, two-lane forked street, characteristic of the northern expansion of the city.

Its north side features highly similar buildings that are home to residents with high purchasing power, beside the neighbouring Hotel Ritz. Although there are institutions and homes on this quiet street, there are hardly any commercial premises.

On its south side, we find the side of the Prado Museum and the Royal Academy of the Spanish Language, built in classical style at the end of the 19th century. The street is perfectly straight, providing an ideal frame for shots of some of the area’s characteristic buildings such as the Hotel Palace.
