Dating back to 1871, the Centro Cultural Daoíz y Velarde is a cultural space belonging to Madrid City Council, located in an old industrial pavilion that used to be part of the Daoíz y Velarde military complex.
Refurbished in 2015, the building has a surface area of 6,800 square metres. Its refurbishment maintained the aesthetics of an old industrial unit with its brick façade and the metallic structure of its pillars and roof.
The interior of the unit was emptied, creating wide open-plan spaces and areas with natural light, and an interesting network of corridors on its lower floors.
Some of its main spaces are the central area, a multi-purpose room with adaptable configurations, an exhibition room and auxiliary spaces.
