The La Corrala Cultural Centre is home to the Museum of Popular Art and Traditions which houses an ethnography collection from different regions in Spain (life cycle, local fiestas, occupations).
Managed by the Autonomous University of Madrid, it occupies an old Madrid corrala, built around 1860, with a square courtyard. It was completely renovated in 2008 and is now one of the best conserved corralas, combining a traditional exterior with contemporary elements in its interior.
The courtyard has a primitive fountain and drinking trough, which has been restored with a glass bottom that naturally lights the domed-ceiling ground floor, where there is a brickwork auditorium with seating for more than 100 people. On the second floor there are modern classrooms and corridors, as well as a library and a storage area in the attic.
